The rules of the page
Editorial & disclaimer
The News wire and the Journal follow written rules, and this page is where they're written. Last updated 18 July 2026.
The wire
How the news page works
- Sources, always. Every item is a headline from a named financial publisher, shown with its source and time, linking to the original article. Full articles are never copied or republished here; the headlines belong to their publishers.
- Selection is automatic. Items come from a fixed list of reputable financial feeds, gathered daily. Appearing here implies no view on any company, security or story.
- Nothing is paid for placement. There is no advertising, sponsorship or affiliate anything on this site.
The journal
How journal entries are written
- Built from the day's reporting. Entries draw only on the same published headlines the News page carries, and every story an entry refers to is named and linked.
- Drafted with software, held to written rules. Entries are prepared with software assistance and must pass a fixed set of checks before publication: every story traceable to a named, linked source; length bounds; and a scan against a list of banned advice phrasings. An entry that fails any check does not publish at all. Some mornings, that means no entry; the checks win.
- Reviewed by a person, withdrawn in one click. The operator reads every published entry the morning it appears and can take it off the site immediately: off the index, the feed and the sitemap. A withdrawn entry says why.
- No invented facts. An entry may only discuss stories present in its sources; numbers, prices and quotes come from those sources or not at all.
- Descriptive, not directive. Entries describe what happened and what was reported; they do not rate, tip, or suggest action, and every entry ends with the same disclaimer line.
The founding rule
Never advice
Nothing on this website (the news wire, the journal, the guide, or any page) is financial advice, an investment recommendation, or an invitation to buy or sell anything. Sentryfolio is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. Markets fall as well as rise; reporting can be wrong; and every investment decision, with full responsibility for it, remains yours alone. If you are unsure about an investment decision, speak to a regulated financial adviser.
When we're wrong
Corrections
Errors are corrected promptly and visibly: a corrected journal entry says so at the top, and a withdrawn one says why. To point out a mistake, use the contact form. Corrections are read with gratitude, not defensiveness.
